  1. Really enjoyed the Bandit shows brought back some good memories I was the bandit in my day my wife could tell some good tales the best was out running the HWPT on our honeymoon with 13 cases of boot leg beer in the back seat of my 79 Z28 she says she said she seen her life flash infront of her. she maid me grow up after a while.Times have changed but I do enjoy watching your show. I am going to try to enter the drawing for the car and I will build a garage to put it in.Life as thrown my wife and I a curve or 2 but we just had our 32nd aniversury .

  2. holy hell! I owned/built a few of these (77-79’s) back in the high school (and post hs) days, i think i need another… love em, awesome!

  3. Love the show. Your dedication to preserving cars is outstanding. My favorite cars are Mustangs, Corvettes and Cobras.
    Keep up the good work.

  4. I’m in on that contest……is that an authentic 23 channel cb in the car?40 channels did not come out until 1977.I guess it could go either way.Not only did that movie spur the sales of the trans am.It also propelled sales of cb radios nationwide. My parents and every one we knew went and bought one.Every car I have ever owned up until now has had a CB in it.It all goes back to that movie. My handle is “Spraygun”….Just get out there and holler for me.

  5. One of the best shows on TV. I grew up watching Burt, he is my childhood idle. It was good to see him at his home. I’m really glad he’s still alive, alot of my heros are gone. God bless the gas monkey crew, and your show.

  6. I absolutely love the show! I am 14 and live in PA. Richard, you are my idol. I just recently bought a 1992 Chevy s10 blazer back in October that was in a fender-bender. i am fixing it up and hope to have it done by the new year. i have the whole front clip tore apart. i got all of the parts that i need for it except for a battery and a right passenger outer fender. do you have any places that you know of online that i can get the items that i need for somewhat of a cheap price. anyway it would mean alot to message me back, i’ve watched every episode of your show multiple times and i have every episode saved on dvr on my tv. thanks for your time.

  7. I whould love to win that gas monkey trans am. I lost everything that makes you feel like a man my job my harley and able to drive tractor trailers any more do to being disabled.this car whould make me feel like a man again thank you very much.

  8. Man I remember my late mother telling me stories of her wrecking one of these in a little town while she was pregnate with me, Dad was holding a carton of eggs and not one broke! I guess im okay then! Id really love to own one with that monkey on it! Best cars are RR cars!

  9. hey Richard! my favorite show by a mile! on the bandit episode 1 I saw that old root beer ford you almost flipped in the back round didn’t you guys sell that awhile back? keep up the great show more burnouts! ps I tried growing an arron beard it itches like crazy how does he do it?

  10. My dad has always been the car guy and I’ve always been the sports guy. Tried to watch the other car shows with him but I’ve lost interest after the first five minutes. Your show is so great and different. I haven’t missed an episode. Thanks for making a great show that my dad and I can watch together and bond over. Hope I can win the Trans Am so my dad and I can go cruising together. Congrats on converting me to a car guy.

  21. Greetings from Sweden u guys are great really loving the laid back attitude u have when taking on a project. Smokey and the Bandit is what got me hocked on american cars.

  22. FANTASTIC!! THE MOST FUN EPISODE UP TO DATE…… also cudnt help but notice the H1 in the background with the huge wheel next to it and the ac cobra. Is it a 289 or a 427?

  23. AND WHAT A PAINTJOB……. ITS A FREAKING MIRROR. YOUR BUILDS ARE WORTH EVERY PENNY U MAKE ON THEM. AWESOMELY IMPRESSED!! U GUYS ARE THE MAAAANS’ HAHA!!

  24. This car is my first memory of riding in a car. My mom owned this car when I was itty bitty!!! Love this car it brings me back! Love you Richard!

  25. This car is a blast, and it would be a dream to have a car as well as from small has always been my dream, I have even miniature and others, thanks for rescuing this classic. Greetings.

  26. Oh my goodness!!! My wife and I never miss an episode, you guys are truly talented. This car is amazing, you guys did a fantastic job. Always a fan from Florida!!

  27. Hi Guys, love the show. I have owned many Trans Ams, and worked for Pontiac back in the day. The one thing that baffled me, was why you kept trying to use the Olds 403 that was in that 77 car. Check the records, Pontiac never used a 403 in 1977 in a Trans Am. All 77 Trans Ams were a Pontiac 400. In 78, Formulas, base model Firebirds, and Espirits, were available with a 305, and 350 Chevy engine. Trans Ams all were Pontiac 400. 1979 was the only year Pontiac ever offered a Olds 403 in both the Trans Am, and Formula. And that year, there were limited edition Trans Ams available with a 400 Pontiac engine, and 4 speed transmission. So to me, it would have been much better to scrap that Toronado motor, and replaced it with an authentic 77 Pontiac 400, with factory chrome valve covers. Not trying to criticize, just was surprised. I’m just a little older than you guys. I was there in the day. Like you guys, myself being a car guy, Smokey And The Bandit shaped my driving habits, and car tastes. Sad to see Burt looking so frail. Anyway, check out what I said, you’ll see I’m right.

  28. This car is my first memory of riding in a car when I was a itty bitty girl. My mom bought this car for $5,000 back in the day. Love you Richard!!! Would love to win this car!

  29. fast and loud is awesome best reality-comedy show out there. look forward every week to watch a new episode.great little remake of smokey and the bandit!!!!!!!!!

  30. Love your show, but I must admit…I’m in love with Sue! Is she married? If so does she have a daughter? ๐Ÿ˜‰ You guys make my day!

  31. Great Show; look forward to watching it every week! Appreciate that you did a tribute to the greatest movie of all time and that it was done right! I have East bound and Down playing in my car all day long now thanks to you guys. That alone should be a good reason to put the car in my driveway! lol

  32. Everytime I think you guys have outdone your last build on the TV show you 1 up it! I know me and my sick dad love to watch all your builds and your crazy antics! Please keep on making great cars and great episodes of your show! I know my dad really looks forward to it and I do as well. God bless GMG and God bless RR and AK!

  33. Richard and Crew-
Smokey and the Bandit was cool! Brought back a lot of good memories. My brother bought one of those in 77 and restored one last decade.
What you guys do with the cars is great. Wish I had the $$ to buy one.

    A devoted fan.

  34. IF IT AIN’T GAS MONKEY KOOL IT AIN’T KOOL, SO CHECK THIS OUT!! WHEN THE FOOTBALL FIELD JUMP WAS DONE THE CAR WENT OUT OF CONTROL, OUR SISTER WAS A CHEERLEADER ON THE FIELD AT THAT VERY MOMENT, SO INSTEAD OF DOING THE DOENUT AND THEN LEAVE THE FIELD IT GOT OUT OF CONTROL AND SLAMED THE CEMENT DUGOUT MY COUSIN AND I WERE ON THE DUGOUT WHEN THE CRASH HAPPEND, THERE WERE KIDS THAT DID GET INJURED BUT THAT IS ALL I WANT TO SAY ABOUT THAT! IT WAS AN ACCIDENT AND SHIT HAPPENS , THEY WENT THROUGH OUR FAMILIES PROPERTY ALSO!! ANY HOOT IT DID SCARE THE MUNKY DUMP OUT OF US!! THIS IS A 100% VERIFIABLE EVENT !! HOPE YALL WATCH THAT WHOLE SEEN VERY CARFULLY!! MARK GILES

  35. Gas Monkey Garage crew are great at what they do even Richard. He’s great at drinking beer LOL Ya’ll always keep my best and me entertained!

  36. LOVE you Guys, Gas Monkey ROCKS! Keep it coming…

I would LOVE to be the owner & driver of a GAS MONKEY Car of any sort. But to drive the Bandits car would be the ultimate, SWEET RIDE, GUYS!

Not too mention my RED hair goes amazing with Black!!! ๐Ÿ™‚ FINGERS CROSSED…

In high school I was the only chick in Auto shop for fours years, working on cars in my cheer uniform. ๐Ÿ™‚ My dream cars are a ’68 Camero (sexy) or a ’55 Chevy Belair “Shoebox racer” ๐Ÿ™‚

  37. I used to have a 78 TA right after I got my first real job.. I was 19 and had only driven junk until then! Needless to say I was in heaven driving around in that Gold TA! I’m 49 now and out of all of the cars I’ve owned that car was my very favorite. I sure I hope I win it…with 5 kids I will never be able to buy another one.

  38. Hey Richard, I heard that a Georgia motorhead and two pals zipped from Manhattan to LA in 29 hours, beating your 30 hour record, which beat the original Cannonball Run time. Any truth to that?

  39. The best and funniest auto/motorcycle rebuild show on television. It was great when Richard and Aaron and crew beat the Orange County Choppers and Paul Jr in the best build off ever. Keep up the good work.

  40. Give me this car and I’ll grow my hair out get Danny McBride to put me on Eastbound & Down.
He’d have to, I was told by a person who worked as a double for Danny that I looked like Danny.

  41. loved the car and the skit, “smokey and the bandit”, and “cannonball” with david carradine are two of the greatest car movies ever.

  42. me and wife loved the remake “movie”, only gripe, Jackie Gleason didn’t curse, everyone was a “scum bum” not a “sum beetch”

  43. Freakin awsome AZZ show man, havn’t missed an episode ,almost makes me want to move to texas.YOU GUYS ROCK.Damn I love Burt Reynolds and Smokie and the Bandit has allways been my favo movie. sure hope I win.even though it’s not a mustang…I still want it.

  44. Im a big fan of your show. Smokey and the Bandit is truck drivers training video. my brother has an 80 Trans Am and I and I’d love to someday pull up in his driveway and the Bandit car.of all the cars you have done.this was the best. hope that it goes to a good home mine would be the best

  45. My first car that I never got restored but wanted too. Traded it for a car for one of my children, have to make sacrifices sometimes in life for the ones you love, but I sure miss my car. Smokey and the bandit own those movies also, had a lot of fun and caught a lot of eyes to. Really enjoy watching your show you all do awesome work! Hope to see ya in North Carolina.

  46. Love the Trans Am! Had one just like it when I was in my early 20s now 55 wish I could turn the clock back to those days! Thanks for your show! Fun!

  47. My twin brother has one of these! I would love to win this car!!
We grew up fixing up muscle cars thanks to my Dad who you should really meet. He has two now that you would really enjoy!
I am broke even though I drive truck over the road thanks to a divorce. I would have liked to build a car with my son but that probably won’t happen now. I have fond memories of building cars and love your show.

  48. Man money money money …but no not just money knowhow as far as to put together a gas monkey garage car no matter which one make them faster make them sharper you guys got a great team you’re at the top of your game congratulations is entertainment at its best something happens when a tire spins and can’t help but to bring a smile to my face you guys rock!

  49. Was totally impressed with this build. It is just a fantasy of mine to have a badass hotrod like this. Especially something Richard and Aaron had a hand in. Tired of driving back and forth to work every day in an Elantra. Ha ha

  50. I really want this car my mom an dad use to have one when I was 13 it was a 1978 t top it needed a timeing chain so my dad got red of it I really would love to have this car ๐Ÿ™‚

  51. hi tried to put husbands name in for the smokey bandit contest … but with no success.. will try again later… but besides that one of the things he asked me for was a gas monkey tshirt… larry does hot rod interiors like your sue. He gets a real kick out of her. enjoy your show. if you can help me out with a tshirt could email me and let me know when and how to get one as soon as possible thank you and happy holidays.

  52. I have pictures of the original trailer with the horses on it, Burt used to keep it inside the gated property in Jupiter fl. Last time I saw it there was back in 1998.

  53. Love this car, the stance is perfect! I had a 78 blue TA with a 6.6 Pontiac. Worst day of my life was when I sold that car. Would love to baby this car! Love the show.

  54. Gotta have THIS CAR!! OMG.. Love the movie– this car will go great with my 67 firebird and my 68 convertible firebird!! LOVE THE SHOW TONIGHT!!!!! Awesome!

  55. I had one of these in 1972 my last summer of highschool. A 1970 Pontiac Firebird 400 with a Hurst tranny and a 3/4 street and strip cam to make it go fast. My dad would not tell me when the sail was so I could not buy it. Otherwise I would have bought it, I had the money. It went really fast too! I sure went though gas though. The guy who bought it rapped it around a tree. Almost killed himself as well. Totaled the car too.

  56. if I WON THIS I WOULD GIVE TO MY DAD WHO WORKED AS A MECHANIC FOR A PONTIAC DEALERSHIP FOR 39 1/2 YEARS TILL HE HAD TO RETIRE FROM IT DUE TO CANCER AND JOINT WEAR DOWNS. MY DAD IS SUCH A GREAT GUY AND ONE OF THE BEST MECHANICS AROUND BUT SINCE HIS RETIREMENT HE ISNT WORKING ON TOO MUCH CAUSE OF BEING ILL. WHEN MY DAD RETIRED HE NEVER EVEN GOT A THANK YOU FROM THE PLACE WHERE HE DEVOTED ALMOST HIS WHOLE LIFE TOO. HE NEVER MISSED WORKED AND EVEN WALKED THROUGH A BLIZZARD SO HE WOULDNT MISS WORK CAUSE HIS DOORS WERE FROOZE ON HIS CAR.I WOULD LOVE TO JUST GIVE THIS TO HIM BECAUSE HE IS A TRUE PONTIAC MAN AND LOVED PONTIACS.

  57. LMAO! Loved this set! Classic, and the laugh, you have it down. And the car, what a beauty, it would look real nice sitting next to my other TA’s ๐Ÿ™‚

  58. Watched the Smoky episode twice now. Had a 1978 Trans Am for many year until it got stolen while in a doctor’s office in the Medical Center here in Houston Texas. I kept it in excellent condition and probably why it got stolen in 1989. Still miss that car and your show brought back many memories! Would love to win this car!!!!!
Thanks and God Bless you all! Jerry

  59. Man ya’ll have an awesome show. The Bandit build was something of beauty, sure would like to have it!!! The movie re-make and having Burt Reynolds on the show was over the top! Keep on getting Faster & Louder!!!

  60. Love to watch the show and see what awesome cars that will be bought and built next. Cant wait to get home from work and turn on the dvr and watch the show. The best show on tv as far as im concerned

  61. I hope Richard was able to get Burt Reynolds to sign his dash board of his Trans am while he had the chance, I only seen him sign one. I would of had Burt walk over and sign the dash that was in the car that they drove up in.

  62. That was the best car I have ever owned. I wish I could get another one but it is too rich for my blood theses days. Richard was right, that car was the best time of my life. Thanks for the bringing me back.

  63. love the movies love the car more. watch fast and loud every tuesday love all the rebuilds

    Bob

  67. Hey Guys
What a BADASSSSS RIDE!!!!! I Have to have this TRANS AM. This thing looks it is doing 150 MPH while standing still. I would love to be behind the wheel of this great car driving to Vegas to do one of my gigs. I do not care if the T- tops are off and it messes up my pompadour. I have to have this AWESOME MACHINE!!!!!

    THANK YOU VERRRY MUUUUCH !
    Sincerely
    Sean Elvis Martin

PS You guys have a GREAT SHOW !
    KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK

  68. I travel all over this great country for work. I’ve had some really awesome steaks at the wild catter ranch outside of Graham, Texas to some horrible crab cakes in Lempster, New Hampshire. After a 16hr day, the only show worth staying up for is Gas Monkey Garage. Your cars make me work longer so I can one day slide in behind the wheel of a ride like a Gas Monkey makeover. Wish you folks would monkey up a few more jeeps. But love all of your cars. Say hi to Sue, she’s awesome.
    Gas Monkey car owner wannabe,
    Joshua Goede

  69. Love the builds and the attention to detail on ALL the work yall do! Keep up the hard work! One day im gonna bring you a bag of money and have you build my dream hemi cuda!

  70. Tried to enter the bandit car giveaway. but trouble entering the info, not sure if its the site or me.lol…love the show, hope to succeed in entering soon.take care

  71. Enjoy the show RR!
Would love to win your TA. I wanted to restore old cars after retiring from the military but injuries from OEF prevents me from doing mechanic work like I did for Uncle Sam for 30 years.
If I win, your TA will be babied!

  72. Hey guys. Im a 17 year old kid thats a huge car guy. I love smokey and the bandit. Ive watched it a million times and the car sends chills down my back. My parents have horrible financial problems so the cant buy me a car. Im only two hours away from yall and I love the show. I watch it ever chance I get. I love you guys and I hope I can win this car. God bless

  73. I would love this car! I have no time to work trying to get a scholarship. Its so sad that no one in my class even knows who smoky and the bandit are!

  74. Love Smokey and the Bandit! Burt lives in my town Jupiter Fl, so it is only fitting that the car should come back here. Richard did you get to go out while you were here in Jupiter? Totally wold have asked my husband for a hall pass if I would have seen you! U r super sexy

  75. Great Show. Richard, You must have inherited the best hair genes. Does your dad still have all his? Can’t believe you’re not bald. I’m in on this giveaway. Wish you would have given the Shelby Mustang away. I would have loved a chance at that one. Keep the cool cars and laughs coming.

PS- Does the winner get to take possession at the Gas Monkey Bar n Grill and do donuts in the parking lot?

  76. I use to have a TM. Only item missing from that car is me and my native american headdress that I would wear once I won the car. Gas Monkey team thanks for all you do on the show! It’s GGGRRREEEAAATT!

  77. Man I live in DETROIT “THE MOTORCITY” car capital of the World, but you boyees put us to shame up here. I definitely grew up in the 60s 70s- muscle era, so I can relate to your love for those big metal BEASTS..My favorite one is when my older brother came home from Vietnam in 71. Where he saved all his USMC Government checks until he got back to the “DEE” where he purchased from a used car lot. One BAD AZZ -70″ Dodge Super BEE gold on black with pistol grip shifter breaking that 440 magnum loose in the hood.It was the best time of my youthful years hearing that motor fire up. After that is was all muscle for me. So Monkey Crew could you guys ever try to restore a classic mopar. THANKS FELLAZ Your man Lupe’ In the “DEE”

  78. Love the show, great cars and characters. I had a 79 trans am with a locked up 403. My father and I rebuilt the motor. It had that same tall gear in it yours did. I lowered the gear in it to and wow what a difference. Great idea to put the overdrive trans in to get the rpms back down. I didn’t do that to mine and had problems overheating. My brother pestered me till I sold it to him. I’m still regretting it every time I come across the pictures of it or I see a bad ass one, like yours. Burt should be proud of the tribute show. Great work, keep up the good work. Oh I’d like to see a show were Richard dose some work. Or would that be a bad thing ?

  79. Love the show fellas!! I’ve got a man crush for Richard an Aaron you guys bring it.
I’ve got a challenge for Richard and Dennis… Richard found the original car that had held the world recorded for the cannon ball run, the Challenge is, for Richard and Dennis to do the race in the original car that had done the first race. R and D did the race in Dennis’s Ferrari but the caveat is to do it in the other car. I have a hard time believing they could beat their time or the first world record. I know Richard is a gambling man and I’d love to throw some cash his way to see him try it. Maybe we can get Discovery to do a show of them trying it!! Hope this challenge can reach them and draw some interest. I’d love to hear their thoughts on it !! Let me know fellas if this might be possible!!! Keep the show on the road!!!

  80. this is for the know it all pontiac guy who was giving them a hard time about the 403 used in the ta rather than complaining about the 403 how about commending them on using whey started with and finishing what they started and doing it on the alotted time frame given! well done guys!! ohh and bye the way in 1980 pontiac also produced a trans am with a small block 301 4.9liter turbo-charged v-8 with 4 wheel disc brakes radial tuned suspension and a posi no major power house but very nice handling car that also was a pleasure to own and drive! just saying!!!

  81. Plz Plz Plz Plz tell me I can enter this compo from Dubai! Your work needs to be here making the Lambos and Ferrari’s look silly! GREAT Work guys!

  82. The bandit car turned out awesome! The only way you could have made it better was to have your phokey, or your monenix, or whatever you want to call the decal to have the Kaufman Beard! That would have been epic!! Now, if I could just get Richard to give my stratus a makeover!

  83. You guys cars are the deal! The bandit build makes me want a T/A…you guys should build an old 3 series BMW like my E30. I’ve got one ill donate just to see what you can do.

  84. AFTER I GOT MY LIECENSE ,MY FIRST CAR I BOUGHT WAS A ( 1977 TRANS AM ,ADDED A C B RADIO . I LOVED THAT CAR . I WATCH YOUR SHOW EVERY MONDAY , AND WHEN I’M AWAY I TAPE IT ? I HAVE TO ADMIT ,I’VE SEEN ALL THE SMOKEY AND THE BANDIT MOVIES ,WHEN HE MADE THE MOVIE ( HOOPER ) WITH JAN MICHIAL VINCENT ) WAS’NT THAT A ( TRANS AM ) ALSO ?

  85. I don’t have a shop or anything like that for it to sit in. I would just love driving it making a lot of men in the maintentance shop I work in envious…lol. I love that car.

  86. I would absolutely love to win this car for my fiancee. We currently have a ’79 Trans Am in our garage that his dad bought brand new .. and we just cannot afford to restore it and I know he would absolutely love to have this car. And he totally deserves it.

  87. Congrats on your success to this point… Understanding all that contact you for whatever factual or nonfactual reasons that not all get answered..Attempted to contact you mail and otherwise so business between us could grow.Enjoy the view at the next rally Richard… I wish you and the chimps around the shop a great new year.

  88. Totally awesome build having had a 77 TA clone to your build, wonder if it is the same one. Mine came from Kalajian Pontiac in Mt. Kisco NY. I did a crazy buyout off the showroom floor and out the door… I new the sales mngr he got got a pant load of poop of my little stunt, anyway you guys a great as is your show, felt a little shitty seeing Burt like that but we all get gotta get old.
Best of luck guys for your continued success,
Hope You have a Merry Christmas had a Happy New Year!!!

  89. Hey Guys,
Just finished watching the Bandit build, it looks even better now than when I saw it on the big screen as a 13 year old kid. I was changed forever, it turned me into a motor head. I fell in love with the TA’s, and bought a black and Gold edition as my first car in 83. I mowed a lot of f@*$&%ing lawns, and odd jobs to get it, too. No where near as cool as the 78, but its what I could get. I’ll clean out a place in my garage to park that bad boy when I win, haha. Take care, and keep putting out sweet rides. Merry Christmas

  90. Big fans. My wife loves Richard. She’s had a rough 3 years with health issues. I’m entering every chance I can to win the Trans Am. Her birthday is Jan 30 and I would love to give her that Trans Am. Her mom passed a few years back and had a silver one back in the day.

  91. Had the option to buy a ’77 in 1985, for a mere $2000. I had just turned 16 with a fresh license and dad said no. Been looking from afar ever since. Nice job with the resto and great show!

  92. I have been a fan of gas monkey garage since I have seen your first show, the knowledge I have learned from your show and the experience your team has is incredible!!!! our favorite nites are when gas monkey garage is on tv ,we love your show and all of my kids are hooked on gas monkey!!! this summer I am taking my vacation to texas to visit the gas monkey garage bar and grill to have some beers, and have a great time!!!!!! keep up the awesome work and I cant wait to see the new gas monkey garage episodes. keep’em fast and crazy!!!!!!!

  93. Just entered to win this bad mofo! I live way up in frozen (well, frozen right now) Canada. Would be an epic road trip driving the car home. Maybe I’ll even drive my 76 280Z down there and sell it you.

Fast and Loud is the best show on cable TV, always wanted a trans am since I was a kid, that Smokey and the Bandit show was great. The graphics on the car are terrific!! You and your guys did a bitchin” job on that machine. Have a happy holiday, to you and your family.

  115. The Bandit episodes are the best ones yet. Can someone at least clarify if a new code has been displayed on the show each week? I saw the code on the show the first week, missed the second week’s show due to my wife skipping it so she could watch “The Voice” (didn’t talk to her for a few days), and watched the revved up episodes two nights ago but didn’t see a code anywhere. Again, I don’t want anyone to give me the code, I just want to know if there has been a different code each week and I’m just a dumba** and missed it. The peace of mind you would bring me would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.

  117. We LOVE watching your show and seeing the master pieces you guys create! Next time I am in Dallas, I am going to try and stop by your bar. I like cars, but love cold beer.

  118. Cuz had one I was so jeolous never could afford one and all he could do is brag about what he had, his dad spoiled him so bad. All I can say is……… MUST BE NICE!!!!!!! Yall are awesome keep up the great work.

  119. Richard, I really enjoy watching your show. I can’t wait to see your restaurant/ bar when it’s done and would like to visit when I can. Gas Monkey Rocks!!!! I’m ready to win this beautiful dream, that will come true for me. The “Bandit One” Burt and I go way back when he started out my idle and “favorite movie star” His signature laugh, too his good looks and charm which I inherited as I was growing up. It would be my pleasure to carry on his legacy by owning his car from the ”Smokey and the Bandit” and driving it with pride. P.S. I have entered all the codes that no one seems to be able to find. My birthday is January 2nd and this would be a great way to start off the new year by you handing me the keys and drive off with a smile. Thanks, Christopher (St.Charles, MO.)

  120. Might as well bring it somewhere where the weather is nice enough to use those TTops.. San Diego Baby! Get some West Coast Gas Monkey free advertising and the old lady and I will put it to good use….

  124. I love smokey and the bandit 1, and Gas monkey Garage,, I was 10 in 1977 and saw the movie at the theater, mechanic ever since, always wanted that car , a friend had one a 1971 ad 455 we would drive that car for ever .

    Charlie

  125. Love your show. Live in San Antonio and we. watch you every week if possible. Can I work for. you? Yeah right? Well we plan on coming by really soon. You’re very goergeous Richard.

  126. I love your show and the Bandit 2 part series was one of the best. I had fun watching it and you certainly can tell that you all had a great time making it, I was looking at the photos of the gas monkey bandit and noticed the overdrive indicator on the shifter. The original T/A bandit car had a factory slap shifter so you could hit every gear. Did you modify the shifter for that extra shift? I have been entering the Bandit Giveaway every week, and have yet to see a code given during the Monday episodes. I have been entering the license plate number and #bandit one in the code box and it seems happy with that.

  127. One other question that I have and was asked before on this blog and not answered: How would a fan go about requesting Burt Reynolds for an autograph request? I tried to find the one true authorized fan site, but there are so many that it is impossible to sort thru and find the right one. I hope that I won’t have to fly down to Jupiter, FL and wait until he comes out to fetch the paper!
    Take care,
    Gary

  128. Hi Richard,
You got to work with a buddy of mine, Terry Clark in Lake Orion on the Copo build. I missed that episode and I hope they replay it soon on Discovery. Terry eats and sleeps TAs especially black bandit ones, He has had a couple of them thru the years. Did Terry bend your ear and get you thinking about doing your version of Smokey and the the Bandit?? It just seems like a coincidence that you guys made those cool episodes after coming out here.

  129. I wish I got to meet Burt. Grew up with Smokey and the Bandit. Now there’s a chance to own a little piece of custom history! I’m on it! Anyone here want to give me some car building advice though? Seems like the right place to ask. Guess you can just email me? I want to know how I can get started on a build of my own. Something basic. Maybe an old bug? I’m not sure. Army89DeltaBOOM@gmail.com

    Thanks!

  130. I have played right along and entered everytime I could. Great show and the Gas Monkey Bandit is a nice looking version. I hope to be the lucky winner and would be honored to have it my garage.

IF I win this baddas black car , I will donate it to charity , cause you cant drive a black car in phoenix half the year , plus it too dusty here and I don’t want to be cleaning it all the time. What I would like is your old shop truck but you SOLD it…, HOW in the hell do you put a price on a friend? a workmate, an icon? shame on you Richard, for the love of money. I bet if you ever find a woman DUMB enough to marry you , and you have kids , you`d sell off the little monkey for a profit too, ya think?
We have a 85 Toyota pickup converted to a dually flatbed with 4 Arizona flag painted on her and the back of the seat is a flag also( copper star in the fold down armrest.) I guess their are only two types of people in the world…(ari) ZONIES and those unfortunate enough to hatched in TEXAS. you boys should come to spend a day in our shop in zonieville, and enjoy a “teener”
day ..( 113, 114 , 115,one hundred six TEEN ) and lay on the blacktop to examine a car in the drive way , while the customer bitches that their air is only blowing 75 degrees.(40 degree drop is good)….stick you hand under the hood and I`ll show you “fast and loud” OUCH!!!Love your and your shop , Its dream land for us desert rats.
build suggestion..GET out of Dallas ..escape truck for when the shit hits the fan, fully equipped offensive and defensive of homeland security gooneies. fast loud and bullet proof (literally) do ya wanna see mine?

  158. My daddy went to Michigan and bout a smokey an the bandit ta off a show room floor when my mom went into labor with me he went threw town running almost 100 mph he out run his police escort that was supose to be waiting for him I still have a trophy he won racing that car and it was the first car I ever drove he sold it after my brother wrecked it and I have been looking for it for last 15 years I begged him not to sale it for me an him to fix it and let me get it when I turned 16 but he sold it anyway

  159. You gotta make this show run for years. This is my favorite show I’m always waiting for new builds to come out to enjoy the awesome job you guys do. I’ve even got my 2 sons enjoying them as well and there 5 and 6 years old so you have to make this show run for year’s so they could keep enjoying them…GOOD job Gas Monkey

  160. love the show down here in Australia, love smokey and the bandit and as I drive the big rig down here( 26 meters long or 85ft 4in) across state lines, A black trans am would be just the very best thing in the world to cruise the hi ways, as the hi way patrols cars (smokey s) would have a ball chancing it down. so why don’t you send it down to oz and let me show off the way you do ,
    cheers Scott
p.s we like drinking as much beer as you do down here as-well

    • The car is already with its new owner, but that would have been a cool thing to see. May have to send a car back with Aussies the next time they’re up here…

  161. This a an awesome car. My friends mom had one, and it needed restoring. My friend worked and tinkered around with it for a couple years. He wanted so bad to be able to drive it when he turned 16. He was killed in a car accident when he was 15. His parents were going to scrap it, and I said that I would take it instead, since it was his dream to restore it. So it has been sitting in my garage for 17 years now untouched. One day when I can get the finances and time, I will bring his dream to a reality.

  162. Love the bandit T/A dream car material you built there Richard….just needs a Brit owner:-D son how about it Richard bring a bit of the gas monkey style to the UK?

  163. LOVE THE SHOW I HAVE A 69 FORD TRUCK BAD SOUND LOVE THE TRUCK LOVE TO WATCH YOU ALL YOU BOTH A VERY NICE LOOKING GUYS HAHAHAHAHA

  164. What a cool car… I owned a ’78 Trans Am with a 4 speed manual transmission and a Hurst shifter.
I had it repainted and all the decals except the bird on the hood. It was an awesome car. I never raced it off the line but if we started at 40 or 50 mph and see who hit a 100 first, I was never beat.
I would love to have one again, but I would never race it. Wish I could post a photo of it on this website.

  165. Richard, love the show, admire you’re focus on the 70s muscle cars, Aaron is fantastic with the deadline jobs, I wish there was talent over here in the mountains like you guys! There’s a lot of nice cars over here but we’ll never see a TV show come out of this area, anyway I’ve met Burt and Loni and what a nice guy, we chatted about the Bandit car and how many they had to have to make those movies, lol I would like to enter the contest as I have never won anything and would turn around and donate it to auction for Brest cancer, my wife’s mother has Brest cancer and now a very dear friend has it also. Thanks and hope the show stays on year after year. Greg.

  166. I’m in tears.. if you go to my facebook page you can see my wannabe Bandit car.. it’s close but needs a lot of work. being a single mom, paying high cost of rent leaves me broke every month. I soooo love the detail you guys put into the Gas Monkey ride. Today my son and I are making a soap box Trans am for the church competition next week, wish us luck, I will be posting pics on my FB add me lol. Thank you : )

Sure plenty of beer will be consumed with the winnings. Also well done to Aaron for getting the shop guy’s operational. Time to tell machanic’s to shape up or ship out. Keep the good times rolling.

This car has become more important to me after I had brain tumor that had metastasized from my kidney due to kidney cancer. SERIOUSLY THOUGH, WICKED COOL CAR!!!!!!!!! WISH WE HAD COOL STUFF LIKE THIS DOWN HERE!!!!!!!

  190. OMG!!!!!!!!!!! I had one also, is my dream car! bought from a kid that had a tarp over it for about 3 years because the back window was broke out. Put the window in myself. Since it had set for so long it had begun to rust! took me about a year to do it all myself even the body filler and painting. Mine even had the paper work with it special edition. My landlord stole it, and by the time I found it motor was gone and they had put it onto a trailer damaging the side!

  191. I love your show always look forward to it every week. I used to have a 1979 10th anniversary Trans Am and I wish I had never sold it. The Smoky and the Bandet car is one of the most awesome car’s you have ever built. I have a 1965 MGB Roadster that I wish you could do, that would be awesome.

  192. Well guys,…. from one petrol head to a few other,….. If I won the GMG Transam, I would sook the fart right out of Toms ass!!

  193. Hello Richard and Aaron, I love watching your show. Since I was paralyzed in a auto accident 7 years ago I’ve had a lot of time watching tv and out of all the rebuilding cars or modifying them. Your show is the best. I wish you had some kind of contest on rebuilding or modifying a vehicle for someone in my condition. I have a 1994 Dodge Dakota with the 5.2L V8. I’ve had it for 1 year and it’s been worked on twice. I bought it from my uncle which is a so called mechanic if you know what i mean. I don’t have a lot of money due to my disability but I pray that y’all could take my truck and give it a make over. Because I would hate for it to quit on while driving cause me being in a wheelchair. I would have to call a family member to pick me up. If you can help me I would be so grateful….
