One of Henri Roesch earliest designs after stints with Grégoire, Delaunay Belleville, Renault, and Daimler. His brilliant 14/45 model, a light six-cylinder car with a high-revving engine was designed to compete with best Rolls Royce (the benchmark of the era) had to offer.
The Sunbeam Talbot Darracq Register records show that this 14/45 Tourer, chassis number 25065, was originally sold to Maude’s Motor Mart of Exeter, UK. It was delivered on February 27th 1929. A meticulous restoration taking more than 25 years to complete delivered this excellent example back to the motoring faithful in 1996. The original Cornwall registration, RL 9317, remains with the car.
Sporting the five-seat open coachwork from Darracq Motor Engineering Co. this car is the quintessential British tourer. Having been finished in deep blue with black wings and a black hood that shows well with minor nicks and scratches and one area on the rear lower edge of the LR fender with what looks like a scratch that has been touched up(see all pics). The attention to detail must be savored (the trim is nickel!) Period correct accessories such as direction signals atop the rear number plate, a fishtail exhaust, and leather-gaitered springs have been added.
The top is in good condition and goes up and down easily along with the removable side windows. There is a full length cockpit tonneau cover with a zippered drivers access for solo driving events. Having seen regular maintenance and only moderate use since restoration, it is now ready for long term ownership.
This car runs and drives well and has been maintained in the 20+ years since the restoration however, it should be completely service before any extended driving to ensure safety and reliability and due to our filming schedule, we cannot perform any additional work on this car for you. SOLD AS IS/WHERE IS.
