Some things just are just destined to go together like, rama lamma lamma ka dinga da dinga dong or a family with the surname Speed owning a lot of Ford Mustangs. Ford themselves recently put out the story of the Speed family, who not only were guided to the brand by name, but also by the fact that the family Patriarch Gilbert realized his seven children were becoming too large for the real life family pony. Enter a stable of pony cars instead.
One of Gilbert’s children, Daniel, remembers the moment vividly, “One Saturday, Dad said, ‘If you guys won’t ride him, I know what I’ll do with him.’ Then he came back with that car.” A Ford truck man, the Mustang was an obvious choice for Gilbert and later his children whose childhood knowledge of the ins and outs of Fords would lead them to buying and restoring Mustangs of their own. Currently the Speed family stable houses three 1969 Mach 1s, two 1970 Mach 1s, two 1971 Mach 1s and a 1973 Mustang convertible as well as an assortment of Ford trucks to help get the cars to events across the country.
