Most people will only ever see a ZR1X on a screen.

A hypercar used to mean a waitlist, a dealer markup and a garage in the Hollywood Hills. The ZR1X is America's answer to that: twin-turbo V8 up back, an electric motor driving the front wheels.

Richard's take is simple: if you're going to give away a car, give away one that makes people stop breathing for a second. Then make the way in something a regular gearhead can afford, because a tee or a hoodie you'd buy anyway counts.

Why we paint them yellow.

Gas Monkey Garage has been building, flipping and handing over cars since before "Fast N' Loud" put Richard and the crew on TV. The cars change; the rule doesn't. Make it loud, make it real, and put it in front of the people who've ridden with us the longest.

Yellow Fury is that rule taken to the limit: a car you hear before you see, painted yellow so everyone sees it coming.

What could happen if your name gets drawn

Here's the ride, one stage at a time, if you're the one.

  1. 1

    The call

You get the call within days of the drawing. You read it twice. Then you call someone and tell them to sit down.

  2. 2

    The garage

You get the option of a trip to Richard Rawlings' personal garage with two friends. Same shop floor you've watched on TV.

  3. 3

    The first start

Twin turbos wake up behind your head. The whole building hears it. Nobody's looking at their phone anymore.

  4. 4

    The first drive

0–60 in 2.3 seconds. The top comes down, the yellow catches every eye on the road, and you stop counting how many people film you at red lights.

  5. 5

    The stories

Cars and coffee, family photos, the neighbor's kid who wants a ride every day. Most people never stop telling the story of the car that changed their driveway.
